About Lateefat Suleiman 's work:
Poem Title:
Uncrowned Efforts.
Poem Theme:
Uncrowned efforts centered around the feeling of inadequacy despite trying all you can and putting in all your best. It's even more hurtful when you have responsibilities to take on your parents and the family at large, then you begin to get different names like 'He is stingy' and more. You might even lose your position because of that. The poem ends on a hopeful note with the last stanza singing a song of hope to hold on, keep head up high and in no time, things would eventually fall in place for good. Thank you.
Poem Inspiration:
This poem was inspired at a time when there seems to be no way. When everything was at standstill and a period when my aging parents needed me more but my hands were tied. Everything I tried to do became a futile endeavour. All the money I was getting was not even enough to care for our daily bread let alone other basic necessities.

One day, I became so tired, reflecting on all the challenges I had gone through, I sank my self on the mattress and wet my pillow with tears uncontrollably rolling down my cheeks, but then I knew I wasn't the only one going through this kind of situation, that is why I deem it fit to restore the hope of the ones who may not have the strength to hold on, to the ones who had no shoulder to cry upon like myself, to the ones at the verge of giving in to depression. I could only do this through my poetry from which I found my solace as well. Thank you.
How long have they been writing poems:
I started writing poem from age 15 when I was in senior secondary school. That was 16 years ago.
How they discovered their passion for poetry and word art:
I was in art class when I was in secondary school and paddling through the subject, literature, I discovered the three genres of literature and of the the genres of literature, I noticed I always enjoy Poetry more, in fact, I love it so much that I wrote in our school magazine for that year. I always write poems for my friends whenever we have to write in our notes. They usually come to me for personal poems also because they knew it had become my hubby.

The major reason why I actually picked interest in poetry is because I loved challenging myself, unravelling the core meanings and intended messages of the poet as well as picking out the figurative expressions and poetic devices. More so, it is a very unique way of expressing oneself and could be coded with imagery and symbolisms. I love it.
