My poem's central theme is defiant, vulnerable love

Poem Inspiration:

I wrote this poem out of a sense of conflict. We are taught that the golden rule is to love our neighbors as ourselves, yet nowadays, people are often ashamed of loving deeply for fear of being ridiculed or labeled as 'too much.' I caught myself feeling that same shame, questioning my own capacity to care.
I thought about February—the one month of the year where the world collectively decides it is acceptable to celebrate love. But why limit it? Why be ashamed of showing love for the other eleven months of the year?
This poem is a consolation for me and anyone else facing that same dilemma. It is a reminder that being 'too much' is often just the courage to be yourself in a world that glorifies the suppression of our truest feelings.

How they discovered their passion for poetry and word art:

I discovered my passion for poems in JSS2. Feeling deeply conflicted about my emotions, I needed a way to process how I felt, so I penned my thoughts down into a single stanza. What started as a way to console myself quickly grew into a lifelong love for poetry and spoken word.
