Rose

Poem Theme:

The theme of the poem is love.It centers on using symbolism to highlight the importance of looking at and understanding a person’s flaws rather than a perfect representation you have of them.It centers on accepting a person as a whole an loving every part of them irrespective of their flaws.

Poem Inspiration:

I was scrolling on TikTok and I saw this phrase “I once loved a flower so much that instead of picking it,I left it alone”.
I had the inspiration to write a poem on it.I chose a rose as the flower and used it to symbolize a person.
A rose is seen as perfect flower and usually you get a flower vase which hides its thorns but showcases only its petals.

Likewise you have a perfect representation of a person in your mind,and then they become vulnerable with you and show you their flaws yet you choose to chastise them rather than cherish every part of them.
The essence of true love is accepting a person as a whole irrespective of their flaws and this poem uses roses and it’s thorns to highlight this.

I’ve been writing poems for about 10 years.

How they discovered their passion for poetry and word art:

I wrote my first poem in primary school.It was an assignment on environmental pollution.I enjoyed the rhyming and expression of my feelings into writing and I unlocked a hobby in poetry writing since then.
I’ve fallen in love with poetry because it is a way for me to convey my emotions,without rules,just raw feelings in an artistic way and I find it so beautiful.
