About iamthegiftofGod 's work:

Poem Title:

Dialogue with a Skeleton

Poem Theme:

The human cost of insecurity and violence, and the forgotten stories of its victims.

Poem Inspiration:

The poem was inspired by the theme “Whispers in the Garden of Bones” and my reflections on the many lives lost to insecurity, kidnapping, gun violence, and other forms of violence in Nigeria. I began imagining a garden of bones as a symbolic cemetery where the dead were not completely silent, but carried stories that had never been heard. In that imagined space, I found myself in a dream, standing among the remains of victims and entering into a dialogue with a skeleton. Through his voice, I imagined the unfinished lives, ambitions, and circumstances of those whose lives were violently interrupted. The poem therefore became my attempt to listen to the stories beneath the silence of the dead and to give language to the lives that violence had reduced to bones.

How long have they been writing poems:

1 year

How they discovered their passion for poetry and word art:

I got into poetry fully since 2021; when I was still in ss2 back then in Baptist Comprehensive School Kontagora. Though I was into art world since I was in GSC KNT, where I became a member of Hilltop Creative Arts Foundation. While in ss2, literature was my best subject and poetry became my favorite genre. I developed the passion as I began to read poems back then. I saw the beauty of the art and the desire to be the artist began to flame. But I have not been so serious about it until I started writing from last year.
