About Hadiza Usman's work:

Poem Title:

Bauchi at 50

Poem Theme:

Celebrating Bauchi at 50

Poem Inspiration:

This poem was inspired by my love for Bauchi and my reflection on its journey over the years. Bauchi at 50 was more than just an anniversary; it was a moment to celebrate our heritage, the resilience of our people, the progress we have witnessed, and the hope for a greater future. I wanted to use poetry to capture the beauty, history, identity, and spirit of Bauchi while looking forward to what the next chapter holds.

How long have they been writing poems:

3years

How they discovered their passion for poetry and word art:

I discovered my passion for poetry and the arts gradually, through my love for words, storytelling, and self-expression. I have always been drawn to the beauty of words and how they can carry emotions, tell stories, and give voice to things that are sometimes difficult to say aloud. With time, I started writing and performing poetry, and I realised that poetry was not just a hobby for me it had become a way to express myself, connect with people, and speak about issues that matter to my community.
